Fall Classic Final Game Captures 51M Audience Members In the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run attracted a combined over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB reported this is the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Television Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest drew 27.33 million viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the last finale featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked fourth, Game 4 was 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game landed in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged over 11 million viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million viewers. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed a single run in six frames – recorded over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match series drew over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen audience increases for two consecutive seasons.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the total American viewership was 16.1 million. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million viewers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff ratings after 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by 44 media partners in 16 various tongues.
