From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- However, their status as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
